simmering
i just think that anywhere i am,
i should be at the park instead,
watching the children of sunlight
slipping down the slides of
green leaves.
what a playground life is.
your memories seesaw,
and you don’t remember
which ones are up
and which ones are down.
there is one i recognize
in full upswing:
a red notebook sitting
on my legs, dawn peeking
through its pages. i was
on this bench, and i was
loving you.
